Episode 109: Action Cam

Got a new action camera of my selfie stick/monopod. It is a knockoff GoPro video camera. I am going to unbox it and give it a review of the camera.

Filmmaker Dreams

For some of you that follow this blog, you see the videos I make.  The videos started because I am a fan of podcasts and wanted to be part of it so I made the Radical Geek in 2011.  After that, I have a current project called Out of the Box where I unbox and review gadgets.  Over time I have been studying on how to be a better film/video maker.  I want to branch out into more and different projects.

My first idea for a full feature length film had a working title, “Do You Copy.”  It was going to be a documentary on Digital Right Management (DRM for short) and the fight between the creator’s right to profit from their work and the consumer’s right to have a quality project or share it.

I also love sci-fi/fantasy and just wrote a script for a short sci-fi film called In Two Days…?  It is about 2 scientists that create a device that views events in time using the theory of an Einstien-Rosen Bridge.  Only thing is that they can only see two days ahead.  The rest of the film is them finding out why.

I do want to make a film but here are the excuses.  It is time and money.  I don’t have the money to put into the project.  So I can try to crowdsource it with Kickstarter, IndieGoGo or GoFundMe.  Time is a problem because either I have a regular job or looking for a new one when unemployed.

If you think I might make a film even a short film you have to wait and find out.

Episode 108: Retracting Mirror, Magnet, and Selfie Stick

I look at magnets on sticks, mirrors on telescopes and selfie sticks.

Mockumentary Madness

I had a crazy idea for a mockumentary called Chairs of Fire.  It’s where The Fast and the Furious meets Murderball.  Where people bound in power wheelchairs have them modified for underground street racing.  I know it is crazy.

Ganymede Awards

I proposed a film festival with an award in genre and fan films for Flower City Comic Con 2018.  I am still waiting for a response from the organizers to get the okay.  I hope I get a chance to do it, but if I don’t get it should I have it at a neighboring hotel after the convention closes for the night?

Aim High

When I graduated from college I was 25 years old and didn’t have an I.T. job.  It got desperate that I almost thought about joining the Air Force.  The Air Force you ask?  I remembered a news report years before that the Air Force was losing skilled people to the private sector, so I thought I could put my B.S. in Information Technology to use.

What stopped me was I had asthma and that would make me ineligible medically to join.  I am also anti-war so working in one of the branches of the armed forces would make me a hypocrite.  Also, my father who served in Veit Nam with the Army would have talked me out of it.  Plus a military lifestyle wasn’t for me.
