Hot Death Cornhole

OK this is a crazy idea.  I have this idea for a game that modifies the rules of cornhole.  Call it Hot Death Cornhole.  Before every round a card is drawn that effects how that round is scored.

Idea for cards are as follows….

Pit Monster.  There is a monster that lives in the hole on the board and the monster eats any beanbags that land in it.  No score for bags on the hole.

The Broad is Lava.  Any bag that lands on the board is zero points.  Only in the hole gets points.

Player Advantage.  The first player to get a bag in the hole get one bag on the board count as if it went in the hole.

Close Counts.  If any bag lands within 1 ft of the board counts as one point.

Score +1.  Hole counts as 4 points and board counts as 2.

Pro Roller Derby League

I am a fan of roller derby. With the popularity of amateur roller derby can there be a pro league? One I am going to barrow a few things from classic roller derby and some things from modern roller derby. So what is my fantasy head cannon pro roller derby going to be like.

  1. Banked Track
  2. Co-Ed Teams
  3. 90 second jams
  4. Home and Away Bouts
  5. No Scripted Bouts
  6. No Game Clock
  7. 4 Periods of 10 Jams Each

Now let’s talk about the last 2 points. When going to see roller derby and the game clock runs down but the jam clock still running the jam continues until the jam ends. I wanted to get rid of that, and have the jam clock only. Also for OT would be a set of 5 jams.

For Co-Ed teams there would be a male squad and a female squad. A coin toss at the start to determine which squad starts. Alternating between periods. If it is tied at the end of regulation the squads switch and there is a jam until one team has the lead. If no team with a lead after 5 jams the squads switch and another set of 5 jams. If it is regulation then after 2 sets of 5 jams it is a draw. For playoff it will continue until there is a winner.

Filk is Inside Baseball

I went to a Sci-Fi/Fantasy convention in Pittsburgh called Confluence.  One of the main features about cons is music called Filk.  It is folk music to the themes of sci-fi or fantasy fiction.  Sometimes listening to it and the subject is inside baseball.  If you don’t know the subject matter then it goes over your head.

AI is killing dating apps

I applied for a dating app called Maybe You.  After filling out all the info and looked at profiles of women on the app, something looked strange.  What I found strange is there was no one was familiar with were from other dating apps/sites.  The more I looked everything looked like AI created profiles and chat bots.  This is going to be a problem for people looking for a connection only to find an AI bot.  Is there a way to combat this?  Yes there is.  Going back to doing things before dating apps, like speed dating or going to the bar and meeting people.

Sci-Fi Convention at a campground

I like to go to sci-fi conventions. They usually have them at hotels but I though about changing it up and have it at a campground. Just think people can dress up there campsite to a theme. At night have a bonfire filk sing along. Have panels, arts and crafts, cosplay, parties in the evenings, and outdoor games(i.e. cornhole and bocce). Only problem is money and people. I need to work on networking and get people.

The Pokémon Diner

My joke ever since Pokémon came to the States is could you cook and eat Pokémon?  Would there be some species that are raised as livestock? Or would it be Squirtle soup and roasted Psiduck with BBQ sauce?  If there was a Pokémon Diner it would have a slogan called Catch em, Kill em, Grill em.

Martian Mule

I had the idea of a drink to serve at scifi convention room parties. It is called a Martian Mule.  Take a copper cup and fill it with 1 1/2 fluid ounces of Vodka, ice cubes, 1/2 cup of raspberry lemonade, and one wedge of a blood orange.

Pizza Edible

This is a crazy idea I got from watching Chad the Bird on YouTube. He said something how humans should stay on the ground where the weed and pizza is, and I though weed in pizza. I know it is crazy and how would you do that. Then I thought could you put the weed in the pizza dough and make that the pot edible part? Or would it be better as a pizza topping? What other toppings would be good? I don’t do drugs so I don’t know how it would work. It is a crazy idea that most likely to go no where.

The Orion Conflict

I have been working a SciFi RPG setting for Savage Worlds. One of the problems I have is with the warp drive. The SciFi Companion has it as same system, same galaxy, and different galaxy. My scope is much smaller using just a section of the milky way galaxy. Also there are 3 different warp drives calls warp-1, warp-2, and warp-3. The number is a warp factor with how many light years you can get travel in a week. Well I am going to work on it and have something that will work for my setting.

Why I love sci-fi

If you have read my past posts, I love science fiction. I was in a hotel lobby in Minneapolis the Friday morning before a con called Marscon. One of the hotel workers came up to me and ask what I like about sci-fi. I gave him two answers. First answer is that they create imaginative worlds and the second is you can talk about serious subjects (i.e. racism, imperialism, colonialism, etc) that you couldn’t tell in a modern setting.
