Sorry everyone but this is the last episode of the Radical Geek. I had fun interviewing all the interesting people and places. I do have a show and in this episode I talk an eclectic mix of people. Starting out I interview science fiction author Derwin Mak, then going to Sherri Fairchild and Frank Nicosea from DMon Productions in zombie makeup talking about there movie Fester, and finishing it off is Canada’s geekyist media personality Liana Kerzner.
Steampunk is a genre of fiction that is set in Victorian times with themes from classic sci-fi authors like Jules Verne and H. G. Wells. Fans have embraced it with there own spin in fashion, regalia, and crafts. I went to a picnic held by the Rochester Steampunk and talked to a few of the members about the costumes, crafts, and love of Victorian Age with a twist.
I have been kicking around the idea for a costume from the movie Robot Monster. The monster was a gorilla suit and antique dive helmet. Looks like the dive helmet is going to be a problem. I will keep brainstorming on it.
Rochester, NY Otaku is a local group where members are fans of Japanese Animation (a.k.a. Anime). At their local picnic I talk to the people there and show off the costume of the characters they dress as. Talk about cosplaying and there love of the medium of Anime. Also a special surprise at the end.
