Docker and Portainer – Home Labbing part 5

I am making progress on my Docker box. I was struggling with the Command Line Interface trying to get containers created and running. I wanted to have a Graphical User Interface and I found an app provides that and makes it much easier with Portainer.

I want to add more apps and I may want to have it be accessible to the outside that is safe. I have been looking into some ideas like Tailscale or a reverse proxy through a service like CloudFlare. I will keep you posted of my progress.

Why I love sci-fi

If you have read my past posts, I love science fiction. I was in a hotel lobby in Minneapolis the Friday morning before a con called Marscon. One of the hotel workers came up to me and ask what I like about sci-fi. I gave him two answers. First answer is that they create imaginative worlds and the second is you can talk about serious subjects (i.e. racism, imperialism, colonialism, etc) that you couldn’t tell in a modern setting.

My Rack (Home Lab part 3)

Bought a metal wire shelf so I can put my PCs for my home labbing project.

My Home Lab Setup

With my NAS box I added a Docker box and looking to gets some apps running on it.

Radical Geek @ BarCamp Rochester

Just want to tell people I will be at BarCamp Rochester giving a presentation and manning the Interlock Rochester table.  BarCamp is what they call an Unconference where the participants can give a presentation by placing it on a blank schedule.  There are a lot of interesting talks.  Mostly science/technical subjects but there are some non-tech one.  I was at one that was for comedy improv.  If you want to come down it will be at RIT in the B. Thomas Golisano College of Computing and Information Sciences at 10:00 am.  It is worth checking out.

Here are the 2 episodes I did there:

Episode 1-2: BarCamp Rochester

Episode 2-6 – BarCamp Rochester Revisited
