Problem with home labbing

I have a Docker box with Portainer where you can have containers running different apps. And that is the problem. What do I put on. Pi-Hole was a fail. But what do I put on it: Immich, Jellyfin, Bitwarden or something that runs video game roms? When I first decided to this I was worried that I would be in this predicament. I have a NAS box for years and it works great storing my videos, music, pictures, documents and software. Plus do I want to give it access to the outside with a VPN or reverse proxy. I will keep at it and hope to find some that satisfy my needs.

Docker and Portainer – Home Labbing part 5

I am making progress on my Docker box. I was struggling with the Command Line Interface trying to get containers created and running. I wanted to have a Graphical User Interface and I found an app provides that and makes it much easier with Portainer.

I want to add more apps and I may want to have it be accessible to the outside that is safe. I have been looking into some ideas like Tailscale or a reverse proxy through a service like CloudFlare. I will keep you posted of my progress.

Headaches of tech

I built a box with docker on it and I am having headaches on trying to learn it. I plan on getting some info with YouTube videos.

Update on my home labbing project

I have talked before on my home labbing project. I am starting out but I have a NAS box I built with OpenMediaVault. It has one SSD for the operating system and two traditional HDD. This is where I keep backups of my pictures, documents, videos, music and software downloads.

My NAS Box

Now I am looking into getting a computer that I can put Docker containers to run apps on. Apps I am thinking of running is Jellyfin (videos), Immich (photos), RetroRom (video game roms), and much more. Planning to install Ubuntu Server as the operating system. Of the two PC the bigger one on the right is for that. The one on the left doesn’t have RAM or storage.

Future projects

You might be wondering where I get some of these PC. I work it IT so where I work was getting rid of PC in the picture labelled future projects. As for the NAS box I built that with parts I bought online and assembled them. I will keep you posted on the project.
